The stone is a composite material formed from small elements of authentic turquoise, red-orange mother-of-pearl from the spiny oyster Spondylus americanus, as well as traces of copper and brass. The components are pressed into blocks and bound with resin; the material is then hand-cut into a cabochon shape to be transformed into jewelry.
